Sarah Neufeld Returns
We are more than a little excited to welcome composer and violinist Sarah Neufeld back to the hotel next Wednesday evening 18 May. Sarah is a recording and touring member of Arcade Fire as well as Bell Orchestre, but is currently on a solo tour of Europe after the release of her second solo album, The Ridge.
When we were building the hotel in 2008, we listened to a lot of Arcade Fire. Their music accompanied us to a lot of places we went, and a lot of things we did. Sometime down the track, through friends, we met Sarah and she ended up performing a solo show here at the hotel in January 2013. The lobby was absolutely full to capacity, the atmosphere electrifying. One of our colleagues remembers it well… “there was so much power in the air, you can’t imagine”. Sarah returned to the hotel once more in 2014, this time with Arcade Fire to play their after-show party in the courtyard on a hot summer night. Again, Sarah was enchanted, and we reached the conclusion that she is indeed a powerhouse!
Next Wednesday will be Sarah’s only show in Berlin on this tour, and she’ll be joined on stage by drummer Stefan Schneider and special guests Elia Rediger and Tobias Preisig. Her performance will start at 8:30 pm, but we suggest you arrive early. Davide Luciani and Marco Portello of Mote Studio – a multidisciplinary studio of sound and visual art based in Berlin – will play before the show. Andrea Belfi – a drummer, electroacoustic musician and composer who has collaborated with, among others, Nils Frahm and Jóhann Jóhannsson, will take over after Sarah’s performance. Entry is free and food from our Pacific Rim menu will be available from 6:00 pm as usual.
