Michelberger’s Wiener Wunderkinder

A memorable encounter: meet Martin and Andreas, Olympians and manufacturers.

Martin, a 6-time Olympic competitor in both the winter and summer Olympics. From chasing Ben Johnson in Seoul ’88 to racing down the ice tunnels in a bobsleigh. And Andreas, still holding the Austrian long jump record at 8,30 meters. Both met at the Olympics in the bobsleigh team. Last Sunday they drove up from Vienna just to present us with their Wiener Wunderkind. After a 12-hour car ride, they told us their story and it was inspirational and beautiful; a true Cool Runnings moment.

Apart from all that, Martin has been building speakers and sound systems for the past 40 years, pretty much in his garage, since he was a child. Now mix together inventor genius with the ambition of an 80’s athlete, throw in some Austrian Alps flavour and what do you get?

Last week we were putting the last touches on our new Hideouts. On the search for an equivalently amazing audio experience, we found the Wiener Lautsprecher Manufaktur. Their baby.
