What’s Happened
Michelberger Alpen Seilschaft
We started the year with a team trip to the mountains! In the beautiful, sleepy old Austrian mountain village of Obertilliach, we found an old farmhouse as our base for getting in touch with the snow and the fresh Alpine views. Some of us seasoned mountain boys felt reminded of the skiing trips in the old days; no bling bling Apres-Ski spots, no high-speed gondolas, no crazy-coloured downhill junkies on the slopes. Instead was the good old sledge ride, mountain hikes and solid 50’s Schleppers that took us up the mountains.
After 5 days we knew everyone that shared the slopes with us. Some tracks even got named after our first-timers, like Azar for example. After the first day of baby trials, we took him up to the top and that was where he remained. The Lone Ranger on Kazimir Mountain.
Some of us have never seen mountains higher than the Kreuzberg.
Rainer climbed the highest peak with Nicole, Sabine took her sneakers all the way up with her sledge… which arrived half an hour earlier back at base. The edgy, icy sledge rides of Hermann, Julian, and the crazy Rainer; high speed, no control, but lots of faith.
The day began with the most amazing breakfasts and finished with a feast, each time made by different Michelberger part-time chefs. In between, lots of mingling, sauna, skiing, snow walking and eating Germknoedel and Jägertee on Conny Alm.
Can’t wait to return.
