Michelberger Hotel × Vancouver Art Gallery

We were recently contacted by Bruce Greville, Jennifer Volland and Stephanie Rebick from the Vancouver Art Gallery. In 2013 they’re going to put on a major exhibition called Grand Hotel. This show will chart the evolution of the hotel from its humble origins to the cultural phenomenon it has become today.

We were very honoured to be asked to produce an image/logo for the exhibition. The brief was to create something that conveyed the classic idea of the grand hotel but was also totally contemporary.

So, first, we did some sketches:
