Erik Penny Presents: The Return of “The Sofa Sessions”

Erik Penny and his wife Meike moved to Berlin from LA in 2008, and almost immediately began hosting house concerts in the giant living room of their Kreuzberg Altbau apartment. For more than 2 years, the monthly shindigs attracted musical friends old and new, from halfway around the world and just next door, as well as an audience that packed in well past capacity on most nights. The series culminated with a live recording over 2 nights of Erik and his full band, released as the album “Erik Penny and Band, Live at The Sofa Sessions” in 2011. With the birth of their daughter, Meike and Erik put the series on indefinite hold. Now, 12 years later, the Michelberger Hotel presents the perfect setting for a new beginning: a sofa-filled lobby, a welcoming bar, a cool October evening. Erik will play with a stripped-down band, and welcome special guests Lasse Matthiessen and Ben Barritt; the event, as always, will be free, open to all, full of music and the joy of being with others.
