Common People
Dearest Common People,
Berlin in 2023 feels like a fresh start. A subtle one. More like a new phase opening its doors an inch than a new beginning. Building on the simple things, the old things, to find the new things. Small business still close down at quite a pace, while big business keeps moving in, apartments are for sale, but none for rent. More and more don’t know what they want, apart from working less. We fall into traps of blaming others, instead of questioning the systems. Some are too loud, others too silent. We argue with alikes instead of others. We are spoiled having the world to explore, yet we choose the comfort of our couch or the mobile phone. Consumption over experience.
And there is hope. Because more and more people are onto building better boats. The boat builders take on a crucial role. Boats are a structure, ideally come with a sense of direction, with a compass, to explore, together.
A city is just a bunch of buildings. Like our courtyard for 50 years before us, was just a parking space for 3 cars. A city becomes Berlin with its PEOPLE and what we make of it. Our buildings are our boats, let’s fill them with life and let’s explore what’s on the horizon.
Below find out about the waters we are navigating, pathways creating. Being part of growing web of small boats, independent and interconnected spaces and places for everyone to experience & contribute to a human way forward.
