What’s Happened
The Taula
The first mixers in the clubs of New York and Chicago all had rotary faders. Modern digital versions instead have a slide fader, but in the past five years or so the trend is returning to the analogue equipment of the past.
One of our resident DJs Andres – AKA DJ Trujilo – heard about a father-and-son duo manufacturer in Barcelona called Can Electric, which makes hand-wired musical equipment. Their mixers, called Taula, are 100% analogue 4-channel rotary mixers and take two to three months to produce. Ours arrived in January!
One of our other residents Daniel Cupic, says the Taula is amazing to play on. It has warmth, makes the room sound great, and allows for more control. You can add and reduce frequencies and so it’s fun to play with. And also, it looks really good!
