What’s Happened
Stargazing Orchestral
True, there’s usually no shortage of musical events in Berlin on any given night. But they can sometimes blend into one another, in the usual venues with the usual format. And that’s why we can’t wait to see what our friend André de Ridder (that’s him on the far left), along with Stargaze, the musical ensemble he founded, have planned for next week.
Over three days, they will present a festival at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, which will see the works of JS Bach and Jonny Greenwood presented on the same bill. There will be 14 musical performances, swinging between revitalized classical music, electroacoustic pop and folk. Each night has a theme – spiritual music on Friday, folk of Eastern Europe on Saturday and on Sunday night unexpected collaborations will be explored. Our friend Bryce Dessner (second from the right in the photo below) will be performing as well as having his composition Tenebre performed by Sugar String Quartet on Friday evening.
Stargaze Orchestral 2015 December 11 – 13.
