What’s Happened
Dani California // Theaterkapelle
Daniel is our new man behind the bar. His father was a singer- songwriter from the sixties beat generation and he sees himself influenced by his dream and the musicians he used to hang with. Daniel was doing music since he was a kid. Grown up in London and Brighton, he was so lucky to spend his winters in California to avoid the cold. His freezing friends at home started calling him Cali and he called himself Dani California.
One night in LA at the famous Troubadour club he was introduced to the Red Hot Chill Peppers. ‘ In True Blue English’, which means more or less totally drunk, he announced to the band ‘I Am Dani California’, and declared ‘my music´s better than yours’. They where laughing and joking about it and so did he. But two months later they released a song titled “Dani California” and topped the singles billboard charts for the first time. We don’t know if this is true. But we love the story.
Tonight you can see Dani at the Theaterkapelle in Friedrichshain. He is doing the soundtrack for the play “Zoogeschichten”, an awesome adaptation from Edward Albee. And you can listen to his music here: http://soundcloud.com/dani-california. We love his new songs with Marie Siena and we love HOTEL BELIEVE : http://soundcloud.com/dani-california/hotel-believe/s-z2E45
